| Mattress Rated is a site that is dedicated to the endless quest of finding the best mattresses in the world (for you at least). First of all, I must say that if anyone said that there is such thing as a ‘best mattress in the world’, he or she is lying. Mattresses are as personal as shoes and underwear so the best fit for one person may not be so for another. There are generally 5 types of mattress around. There are spring coil, foam, air, futon and water beds. Spring, foam and futon mattresses are generally the best for everyday use. Choosing the right mattress may make all the difference in the world. Having a good night’s sleep (as opposed to an OK night sleep) will greatly improve your mood, productivity and overall health. Good sleep have also been known to promote good emotional health among other things. One of the biggest considerations in selecting the perfect bed is the way you sleep. If you are a side sleeper (like many of the staff at Mattress Rated), you need to get yourself a |
mattress that evenly distributes the pressure on all parts of your body. Generally a bed that is medium-firm would work best for you. Back and stomach sleepers on the other hand would need to get themselves something firmer. There are many brands of mattresses to choose from. Sealy, Simmons and Tempur-pedic are examples of some very prominent brands. The brands that you choose are sometimes not nearly as important as the type of bedding that you choose. Memory foam and latex selections for instance are some of the latest materials in the bedding world. I have personally tested many of these new materials and I must say that I just love latex beddings (I am a side sleeper). They fell very firm, yet have a soft texture to it that gives that extra comfy touch. In a recent Mattress Rated survey, latex and memory foam beds were some of the most popular choice of beds.
Waterbeds may have had a bad reputation many years ago but the modern waterbeds have come a long way since the first ones. Some of the modern waterbeds look like innerspring mattresses and provide great support for you back (this highly depends on the model that you select and your sleeping style). Airbeds have also gained quite a following for its versatile firmness (you can adjust the firmness of an airbed). Adjustable beds are also getting very popular. Although they are traditionally used in hospitals, these expensive alternatives are finding their way into luxury homes for those who want something with a novelty factor.
